Virgin Media Offers Powerful Hub 4 Upgrades!
Turbo charged 4.0
Some very lucky Virgin Media customers are getting very good mails at present. Virgin offers some customers free upgrades to their Hub 4.0 turbo.
The router is available through their “Hub Swap” system which allows customers to upgrade to the new router for free. The plan is now open to existing customers on different plans. The free upgrade option was previously only available for higher level plans.
Earlier this year, Virgin Media said it would “expand this offering later in the year so that even more of our customers can benefit.”
Now it looks like the offer is being extended to those in areas with wifi and speed issues. The areas where upgrades are offered appear to be fixes with high line usage.
A spokesperson for Virgin Media said of the move:
The Hub 4.0 has the potential to improve the speed and reliability of customers on low-speed plans. Indeed, the Hub 4.0 can link 32 channels to boost a broadband connection.
You’re probably thinking, “Link channels, what? “. Well he does what he says on the tin. A linked Internet connection is made up of multiple Internet connections (channels), linked together to form a single, faster connection.
The current Hub 3.0 can only link 24 lines, so customers should definitely see a difference in their connection.
As we said, the offer is only available to lucky customers. For now, it appears to be deployed in high traffic areas, for the most part. The Golden Ticket email will be sent over the next few weeks. So check your inbox for something like this from Virgin Media:
The email says, “We are upgrading your current broadband kit to a new Hub 4. Your existing Hub will be automatically deactivated six days after the date your new Hub 4 was installed.”
So if you have an email from Virgin Media, you should definitely jump at the chance! However, some customers may have requested a new Hub if they recently upgraded. So if you have speed or coverage issues, it may be worth asking!
