Togo head coach Paulo Duarte discussed the potential of compatriot Carlos Queiroz with the Egyptian national team, saying he can lead them to glory.
Queiroz has taken over as Egypt’s new manager, replacing sacked Hossam El-Badry to lead the Egyptian national team in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The first test for the Portuguese will be against Liberia in a friendly meeting to prepare for the rest of the World Cup qualifying matches.
Ahead of Queiroz’s first game with the Pharaohs, fellow Portuguese coach Paulo Duarte praised his skills, saying he was the right choice for Egypt.
Duarte said: “I speak with Queiroz every now and then, we are not best friends but I know him well, especially when he was coaching Portugal.
“He’s a great choice for Egypt, he has a lot of experience and can help the team.
“Egypt have a lot of good players, they can choose the players they need. Queiroz is one of the best Portuguese coaches, I think he will play entertaining football with his new team.
“Queiroz’s choice was also right, Egypt are one of the biggest national teams in Africa, they have a great generation of players, similar to the one before which included Abu Treka and Barakat.”
