NOW Broadband offers a range of Internet offerings, premium TV offers and phone plans, allowing consumers to bring all of their communications and entertainment services into one easy-to-manage package.
A subsidiary of Sky, NOW started out as an on-demand TV service similar to Netflix, providing easy access to some of Sky’s most popular shows without the need for a long contract or a satellite dish.
While it still offers a wide range of entertainment, sports, movies and children’s TV, it has since expanded to broadband and telephony offerings, providing standard and ultra-fast fiber broadband on a contract basis. and without a contract.
How good is NOW Broadband?
One area where NOW Broadband offers stand out from many other offers in the UK is its flexibility. Unlike most providers, you don’t need to be locked into a long-term contract with NOW Broadband, as all of its plans come with the choice between a 12 month fixed contract or a rolling one month to month.
This might be ideal if you only live at your current address for a short time and won’t need to bring your internet service with you when you move, for example, since you will be free to terminate your service. at any time. without incurring cancellation fees.
You can bundle your NOW Broadband subscription with daily and monthly NOW TV passes, which is ideal if you only want to watch a specific event and don’t want to be locked into a Sky Sports deal. For example, you can buy a weekly pass to cover a cricket test in England, or buy monthly offers for the duration of the Premier League season, allowing you to cancel it during the summer holidays.
As these services are provided via online streaming, they are also great if you can’t or don’t want to add a satellite dish to your home.
Of course, there are tradeoffs for this flexibility. A continuous broadband deal will incur higher setup fees, so you’ll need to decide if the flexibility is worth the extra cost. You will also need to remember to actively cancel your subscription when you don’t need it, otherwise your offer will automatically renew and you will be billed monthly.
NOW Broadband speeds
NOW Broadband offers a number of packages: Brilliant Broadband, Fab Fiber and Super Fiber. All of these are available as 12 month offers or rolling month offers. They also come with line rental as paid phone services, or you can add unlimited calls in the evenings and weekends or anytime for a small additional cost per month.
Which plan is right for you will largely depend on what you want to do with your broadband. Higher speeds mean faster streaming and downloads, but may not be necessary for all users.
NOW Broadband subscribes to Ofcom’s voluntary code of practice for broadband speeds, which means it will show you a guaranteed minimum speed personalized for your address when you sign up. If the provider cannot fulfill this promise within 30 days, you will have the right to cancel your NOW Broadband contract early without paying a termination fee.
NOW brilliant broadband
NOW Broadband’s standard ADSL option, Brilliant Broadband is the cheapest way to connect with NOW Broadband and offers average download speeds of 11 Mbps. However, this can vary widely depending on where you live and how far you are from your local street cabinet, so it’s important to check what speed you’re likely to get before signing up.
This service is ideal for casual users who primarily surf the web, occasionally stream videos online, or browse social media.
NOW Broadband Fab Fiber
For users who need a little more speed, Fab Fiber offers average speeds of 36 Mbps. Again, this can vary depending on your location, among other factors, but since fiber is generally more reliable than ADSL, there should be less variation. However, it’s always worth checking out before committing.
Fab Fiber is aimed at users such as online gamers and frequent video streamers who demand fast, consistent service that won’t suffer from much lag or buffering, and should be ideal if you also sign up for one of NOW’s TV passes.
NOW broadband super fiber
The fastest option available with a NOW Broadband plan, Super Fiber, gives a further boost in speed with an average speed of 63 Mbps. This is perfect for larger homes where multiple users expect to stream, play, or download at the same time.
What is good broadband speed?
What counts as good broadband speed for you will depend on how you plan to use it. For example, NOW Broadband recommends a minimum speed of 2.5 Mbps for streaming, while Netflix suggests 5 Mbps to ensure HD quality content. Meanwhile, 4K ultra high definition services require around 25Mbps to function effectively.
Of course, these are only the minimums, so if you want to ensure a smooth experience, or if you are using multiple devices at the same time in your home, faster services are very useful. In general, the more devices you want to connect, the faster the speed you will need.
How fast is NOW Broadband in my area?
The broadband speed you get will depend on a number of factors including whether fiber is available in your home and how far away you live from your central office, among other factors.

NOW broadband router and installation
All NOW Broadband plans come with a free NOW Broadband Hub 2 router, which provides dual-band wireless internet connection throughout the house, as well as two 1 GB LAN ports for any wired connections you need to make.
Broadband setup NOW
The router is easy to configure yourself and does not require a visit from an engineer. Simply plug it into the main telephone jack in your home using the cables provided. While you can use any phone jack at home, using the main jack – which is usually larger than others and may have an Openreach or BT logo – will ensure the best possible speed.
All you need to do is plug the included microfilter into the socket, then plug your phone and router into the ports as shown. However, if your outlet is pre-filtered (you can tell if it has two ports rather than one), you don’t need the microfilter at all – just plug the router directly into the port, plug in the cable from food and it’s good to go.
