Manager ‘ready to ask impossible’ – A move wish could lead to a job at Tottenham in a few weeks
Failed Champions League victory ‘has always had consequences in Paris since the arrival of the Petrodollars’, says Spanish newspaper sport.
That Mauricio Pochettino hasn’t won Ligue 1 either, which is considered the absolute minimum, means his move to PSG so far has not been a success. It will hurt French club officials especially that Thomas Tuchel lifted the Chelsea trophy on Saturday night, and the added focus on their decision-making puts additional pressure on everyone at PSG.
Despite this, we don’t think the manager is in danger. However, he is ‘not entirely comfortable’ at PSG, which encourages claims of a possible transfer to Tottenham or Real Madrid.
Sport insist Pochettino is a candidate for both Tottenham and Madrid and is so tempted by the possibilities that he ‘is ready to ask the impossible’ of PSG owners. That would be letting him go regardless of his contractual situation.
As far as sport is concerned, it will not be an easy task. PSG won’t want to lose face and will already sting because of Tuchel’s success at Chelsea, so they won’t want to look like they’ve been walked everywhere.
This could make it difficult for Pochettino, and the process would take some time.
So even if he did manage to convince PSG on an exit, Real Madrid and Tottenham would probably have to wait weeks to find out.
