Rick will lead the DirectDefense team of security analysts who focus on cybersecurity event detection and are responsible for managing and improving the detection infrastructure and response to cybersecurity incidents.

Rick has over 25 years of combined US military and industry experience. He has worked extensively around the world with various energy companies and law enforcement agencies including the Department of Defense, Denver Police Department, German Bundespolizei (Federal Police), in rail traffic, airports, ports, and several other special tasks assessing, developing, and implementing a wide range of cybersecurity business transformations, such as comprehensive cybercrime and cybersecurity operational redesign. Rick was also instrumental in the redevelopment, implementation and management of cybersecurity operations within the Department of Energy. His efforts have significantly reduced risk exposure and cost savings, ranging from $5 million to $500 million per year.

During his service in the U.S. Army, Rick gained in-depth cybercrime and cybersecurity knowledge and skills, holding leadership positions working with capital projects, turnarounds, reliability, maintenance , operations and consulting of various agencies. He is a recently retired US Army Chief Warrant Officer 3.
